CALENDAR OF EVENTS

With the arrival of fall and the beginning of school, it’s time for Washington to turn its attention to health once again. The third annual Governor’s Health Bowl runs September 18 – November 1. Mark your calendars, ready your pedometers, and attend these events as opportunities to accrue extra miles! Here’s just a brief smattering of some of the events available to Washingtonians this fall:


Governor’s Health Bowl Kick-Off Event, Spokane
“Washington Health Day”
Spokane | September 18
Clock Tower at Riverfront Park, Spokane
This event is open to the public, and there will be free cholesterol and glucose screenings provided by AstraZeneca, as well as free blood pressure checks by WSU Spokane Nursing students. A short program will take place at 3 p.m., kicked off by Spokane Mayor Dennis Hession.


Governor’s Health Bowl Kick-Off Event, Tri-Cities
“Washington Health Day”
Kennewick | September 18
Bring the family down to Lawrence Scott Park from 5-7PM to complete a 2-mile walk and enjoy other fun activities and refreshments for the whole family.


3rd Annual Cowlitz Tribal Health Walk
Cowlitz Indian Tribe
Longview | September 22
A community event to raise awareness of health disparities amongst the Native American population, the Tribal Health Walk is held each September on the third Saturday of the month. This year participants will enjoy a 3.57 mile walk or run around beautiful Lake Sacajawea. Information booths from many local Tribal and Non-Tribal health organizations are set up for participants to visit and gain awareness regarding healthy choices and obtain information on available services in the community. Participants will receive a free t-shirt and other goodies. Free drawing will be held at the end of the walk. This community event is drug, alcohol and tobacco free. 14th Annual Kitsap Color Classic
Cascade Bicycle Club
